Educating, Engaging, and Empowering Young Leaders in Wisconsin

Spirit of excellence

The Spirit of Excellence is a portfolio put together by student body leaders to highlight the activities that their school offer to the entire student body and community. Each year the Spirit of Excellence Award is given to six Wisconsin schools, one in each region, that demonstrate excellence in leadership development, sportsmanship initiatives, school spirit, and service to school and community. It is presented jointly by a selection committee consisting of members from WASCWisconsin Association for Middle Level EducationAWSAWisconsin Interscholastic Athletic AssociationWisconsin Association of School District Administrators,Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association, and the Milwaukee Bucks. From the pool of regional winners, one school is selected as the state winner.

Regional winners receive local recognition and a school banner. The state winner receives a trophy at a school assembly.

To be eligible, schools must be a member of WIAA and WASC and submit a portfolio that demonstrates achievement in each of three key dimensions in a calendar year beginning February 1.  Winners will be recognized at a Bucks game on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, WI.
